I bought it for 650 euros. Easy installation but the cables it came with to connect it to the power supply are too short... for someone who will put it in a short TV stand, there won't be a problem, but for me, since I put it on a tall desk, it was a bit difficult.

Let's start with the money side... I bought it mistakenly thinking that it would have Dolby Atmos, but it doesn't... with this amount of money, you can get something with Dolby Atmos, but maybe not something as good because I've seen many bad comments about LG soundbars with Dolby Atmos that cost around 500 euros.

So, as I said again, I was late to realize the mistake I made because they do a very good job... it's perfect for music and also for movies... I don't recommend them to people who will do gaming.

Their music is very good, not rich but satisfying enough to properly listen to a song in a space of about 15 square meters. In movies, they have tremendous response and the effects stand out from the dialogue and are very well balanced.

I don't give it one star because of the price and the Atmos... it's a shame not to have this luxury with this amount of money.

ALSO, don't be confused by some comments on the corresponding soundbar without the detachable speakers that claim it has Dolby Atmos, none of them have it... the only one that has it is the 9.1, which is also the flagship of this category for JBL.

The soundbar continues to deliver in movies and music, plus it's not placed on a desk but a nice living room setup and its acoustics are amazing...

After market research in this specific category (5.1, budget, Rms), I ended up buying the Jbl 5.1. Of course, the comments from previous owners on Scroutz were very important. I visited a large chain of well-known stores that had it as a ready-to-use sample. I had a USB with mp3 files and a DTS demo with me. The salesman was not particularly willing to let me "play" with it, but after the first second, I told him I was "sold" and just needed to try it out. And he let me. I played around with it a bit, the build quality of the soundbar and subwoofer is beyond criticism. The remote is simple and good. Connected to a Sony AG9, I plugged in my flash drive and placed the wireless speakers behind me. The store was huge, with no columns and a lot of people! A song started, set to music mode, surround 0, sub 15/30 (in the middle). I gradually increased the volume, people were looking at me, I bent down to see the subwoofer... I was smiling! I kept increasing the volume to see how far it would go, I reached 40/47 (I learned about the 47 later at home) without any distortion, very clear sound, powerful and very strong bass! Second song (rnb), sub at max and volume at 35/47. Very strong bass! I bent down again, the subwoofer was performing without seeming to have reached its limit. Third, DTS demo, set to Movie mode, sub 15/30. The effects were there! I bought it...

Back home, easy connection, HDMI ARC to the TV, Bluetooth to the phone. Everything was recognized immediately! With the Sony 4k TV remote, they turn on/off together, volume control is synchronized. Only to switch from Music to Movie mode or to adjust the rear speakers or subwoofer, I need the Jbl remote. So, in everyday TV use, I don't use it at all.

First movie on the 4k TV, HDR, DTS audio. Set to Movie mode, surround at +2 (Mic audio calibration was done, -6..+6), sub at 15/30. Extremely satisfied!!! Clear sound, effects, excessive bass! All this in a 16 sqm room.

The next day, many songs, YouTube... Once again, very satisfied. The volume in an apartment is excessive, so for a few seconds, I turned it up to the max at 45/45 and then lowered it! No distortion!

The speakers are detachable, battery lasts for 3 hours of a movie and then back on their base. Everything worked as it should.

Worth buying...

December 1, 2020, 6 months later! Incredibly satisfied! The volume and bass are more than enough! In the comments about sound quality, it is incredibly clear and has a lot of bass (Sub always at 15/30). Now, yes, there are no mid-range frequencies. I give it a 9/10. Whoever wants to buy them should listen to them live and see if they really suit them! Because it turns on/off with the TV, once I turned off the speakers to listen to the TV... Disappointment from the TV speakers! I am a cinephile and I watch movies whenever I have the chance. I don't use the rear speakers for dramas (not because I'm lazy, but because I don't need to), but for action and adventure movies with good quality files, they are behind me and continue to surprise me! Connection: TV HDMI ARC, PC & phone Bluetooth. Everything works smoothly without any delay.

Overall, extremely satisfied, I would buy them again yesterday! (I don't hide the fact that I would like to watch a movie on the new 9.1 Jbl and listen to various things)

I'm coming back after 8 months from the purchase (black Friday, 550 euros).
I agree with jimayas87's review. It is the closest to reality for me.

The soundbar has 2 very good points: 1) very good bass for its price, 2) a very smart and effective solution for implementing real 5.1 surround. The rear speakers are easily placed everywhere, without cables and with enough autonomy.
The mid-range is indeed non-existent, so definitely the music listening experience is not as good as other similar systems, and of course the sound cannot be as full. The result worsens as the music you listen to requires full sound and not just volume.
The soundbar is clearly designed for movies, having real 5.1 surround and an ENJOYABLE bass. It is enjoyable in that aspect considering its price. The volume of the sound is more than enough for a 20 square meter room (the volume goes up to 30 and not up to 20 as mentioned by a friend).

For someone who is okay with the limitations of this soundbar, it is definitely worth the purchase at around 550 euros. It is better to judge it against soundbars of similar price and not more expensive soundbars or complete systems.

Some remarks for the end:
This is not a remote control for so much money JBL!! Fortunately, it is not used much.
This is not a design for so much money JBL!! A slightly more premium touch is necessary.
The soundbar does not have Dolby Atmos. I don't know if there are other soundbars at this price range. Also, I don't know if Dolby Atmos implementations in soundbars are worthwhile.

Very good purchase. It is worth it because its sound fills the space from end to end. In a living room of about 100 square meters, the sound is everywhere and of good quality. It is very discreet, minimal to the point where you have to search to find where the sound is coming from. The subwoofer is terrifying and captivating. The absence of cables in the last and surround detachable speakers is very useful. Discreet wall brackets are included for everything. I want to emphasize that if it leaves behind the competition, it is not only because of the sound quality, mainly because the sound is real surround and not virtual. It is undeniable that it is one thing for detachable surround speakers to channel the sound from elsewhere and another to set up your ear in case there is reflection from the central unit on the side walls and floors... if you have the money, do not go for virtual solutions but for this or similar implementations. The total length, including the surround speakers, is 1 meter and 14 centimeters. I mention this because there is confusion in the manual.
