Two prose texts by Michail Mitsakis. Both were written around the same period and for the same reason: from a trip that Mitsakis undertook to Ioannina, as an envoy, apparently, of the director of the newspaper "Akropolis," Vlasis Gavriilidis.
"Slaves" are the residents of this city in Epirus, which was then under Turkish occupation, that the author visited in 1887.
"Despite the Slaves" follows two other extensive travel texts by Mitsakis. One refers to a trip he made to Thessaly and the other to Corfu.
