Since New Practical Chinese Reader was published in 2002, it has been well-received by teachers and learners. For users' convenience, in this new edition we have revised those we found improper, but have not revised the framework, the texts and the main language points of the textbook. All the reading materials and pictures in the Workbook are updated.

This is the second edition of Textbook 1. The book introduces Chinese customs and culture used in daily life by telling some interesting stories of several foreign students living in China and the friendship they developed with their Chinese friends and teachers.

The MP3 attached to the book includes all the texts, new words, listening exercises and so on.
