The twenty-eight (28) centuries of continuous written tradition of the Greek language with the same alphabet constitute a main subject of study and an essential object of specialized research on our language. This is what is attempted in this book: a comprehensive treatment of the major topic of the Greek alphabet.

The main problems as well as the achievements in the research of its history and evolution are presented in detail in the first part of the book. Exceedingly interesting to revealing is the history of each letter of the alphabet, both in uppercase and lowercase writing, which is presented in the second part of the book.

Furthermore, the topic of the writing and spelling of Greek words (e.g., polytonic, orthographic regulations, etc.) remains fundamental and practically useful, which is examined in the third part of the book. For all these topics (essence, problems and concerns, knowledge from research and existing gaps, opinions, positions, and proposals), extensive discussion is provided in the chapters of the book with corresponding bibliographic documentation.

This book has been written to "be read". With simple and understandable language, it addresses a broader reading audience, which is accurately informed based on the current scientific standards regarding the topics of the Greek alphabet and Greek writing from its beginnings to the present orthography.
