Description

Duro Glass

The steel water heater undergoes chemical processing which, combined with the special enameling method using vacuum technology, achieves perfect mechanical adhesion. Then the special glass-based enameling (DURO GLASS), the result of long-term research and testing by ELCO, is baked together with the steel at 860°C, achieving perfect thermochemical adhesion. Thus, the glass faithfully follows the contractions and expansions of the metal, having the same elasticity limits as it.

Result: The water heater is fully protected from rust.

Magnesium Anodes

The exceptionally large magnesium anode of the ELCO DURO GLASS water heaters, with a total quantity multiple times the usual and double that dictated by standards, ensures complete protection of the water heater from electrolysis.

Thermoelectric Safety

ELCO DURO GLASS water heaters are equipped with not only a safety thermostat but also a special thermoelectric fuse, providing double protection against overheating.

Safety Valve

The special safety valve of ELCO DURO GLASS water heaters completely protects the boiler from overpressure.

Polyurethane Insulation

The enhanced insulation of ecological polyurethane with a thickness of at least 25mm & a density of 40krg/m3, injected using a special method applied by ELCO, covers every point of the water heater with absolute precision.

Result: Fewer thermal losses to the environment, saving energy, while the water remains hot for a longer time.

Capacity

Based on the capacity in liters, it can meet all the needs of two people and the water heats up in less than an hour.

Installation

The water heater can be installed on the floor (e.g., storage room or attic). Installation in an attic or on the floor usually makes maintenance more difficult.

Water Heater VS Electric Boiler

The water heater operates with electric energy, where the resistance inside the water heater is heated and thus the water is warmed up.

On the other hand, the electric boiler, in addition to heating the water through electric energy, has an internal exchanger (coil) with the ability to connect to the central heating system, to assist in the production of hot water. This limits the use of electric energy.

This means that once connected, the hot water produced by, for example, the oil boiler, heats not only the radiators but also the water in the water heater, thus favoring cost savings during the winter months.

Today a plumber installed a vertical ELCO Duro GLASS water heater.
As soon as it filled with water and got pressure (second floor in a village, what pressure??) the valve started leaking, had to change the valve plus an extra tenner on the bill.
I will update with more news in due time.
Stupid of me not to check Skroutz before buying it.

Purchase of 80lt. From the beginning of the purchase, the thermostat was malfunctioning, barely enough for two people to shower. Water would fill inside the temperature indicator device. Leakage from the valve and rust where there were branches. Obviously, they have reduced the quality because, as it appears from the comments, I did not just happen to get a defective one.

In the four years outside, the water heater literally broke down and it's not just that, it also damaged the pipes underneath. I have changed water heaters in the decade, I am satisfied if it lasts 10 years, in 4 years I have never changed one, this is the first time, of course, I won't make the mistake of buying from the same company again

Regardless of the many negative comments, it seems very good. I turned on the water heater to take a bath and I closed it before it reached the middle because I got bored. I didn't measure how much time it takes. I set the thermostat to 65. I got into the bath and turned on the faucet until I liked the water temperature. I prefer it to be above warm and before hot. The faucet was halfway between warm and hot. The bath goes like this: first with plain water, from top to bottom, then with soap all over, and then rinsing with the same water temperature, and finally with plain water for a while because that's how we all like it, I believe. I turned the faucet to the maximum hot to see if there is still hot water, and there is indeed plenty of hot water, for sure another person can use it. And all this with the dial not even in the middle. I don't understand what some people expect from an 80-liter water heater that doesn't even cost 150 euros and how they waste so much water for a bath.

The most unfortunate purchase. Stay away. The water heater only works for 15 days. The valve had a leak. I replaced it. It's leaking again. The performance is dramatic. Adjustable temperature at 65°C after 45 minutes of operation barely enough for 2 people to take a shower. The company is indifferent, the service is non-existent.

Bought new (I said something now) four years and three months ago. We installed it horizontally in the attic, following safety specifications. We changed the thermostat three times (which may not be the water heater's fault regarding the first one, but buying EXACTLY the same thermostat the next two times, then there is probably something rotten in the known kingdom), and the heating element once. Tomorrow I will install another one, as it is about to become a barbecue for the next few days. I don't know why I don't give it a star. Honestly. The total cost for these four years of use, excluding labor, was about €180. If someone thinks it's worth it, good for them.

    * 10/2016 - The water heater is very impressive. It works flawlessly, quickly, and quietly.
    * 04/2019 - After two and a half years of operation, the water heater works normally like the first day.
    * 05/2024 - Five years after the previous review and the water heater continues to work perfectly. Not the slightest problem!!

Another water heater with a faulty thermostat. Brand new water heater and it kept the water for a very quick shower. After many phone calls with the company, they reluctantly sent a technician because they believed the water heater was working fine and that it was normal for the water to last so little because it's only 60 liters.

Lived for 3 years ...and some days! Then it opened in a seam of the boiler horizontally and started running a lot, while until then it was running a little. With a numb thermometer and indecisive closing: it would close when it reached the temperature, but soon it would open again and close again ...and open again, etc. And the thermometer would go up a little. I suppose if I left it on, it would continue forever until it bursts! And yes, while the thermometer would go up, it wouldn't go down: you had to completely empty it from the hot water for it to show you (after a while) that it cooled down. But these are faults. It's the 3 years that hurt; it costs me 40 euros per year to use the ELCO, and with a lot of hassle in the changes! They will close the shop the way things are going...

The reason why I give one star has to do with issues regarding the construction of the water heater. We have changed the thermostat twice in the past 1.5 years and now it needs to be changed for the third time. So far, the changes have been covered by the warranty and the service center has been quite polite. When we asked the plumber how much it would cost to change the thermostat without the warranty, he told us 45-50 euros. Which means that from the times we have changed it, we could have gotten a new one. Generally, on other websites, I noticed that most people had issues with the thermostat of this specific model.

I chose it based on the warranty of the Elco brand. From the beginning, the thermostat didn't work properly. Because it was a hassle to uninstall it and return it, I preferred to buy a new thermostat that was replaced by the plumber. Then, after a short period of time, it started leaking. Once again, the plumber fixed it. Eventually, it works but it cost me quite a bit in repairs.

Quiet, heats up quickly, and be careful, the thermostat at 65 degrees if you want to keep it for 10 years.

From new, the device that shows if the water has warmed up does not work... so you don't know if it actually has hot water... and when it does, it's not hot enough... after 3 months, the thermostat broke

  • Purchase of 80lt.

  • In the four years outside, the water heater literally broke down and it's not just that, it also damaged the pipes underneath. I have changed water heaters in the decade, I am satisfied if it lasts 10 years, in 4 years I have never changed one, this is the first time, of course, I won't make the mistake of buying from the same company again

  • After 9 years, the water heater of the same specifications and brand has leaked in two different spots. I would not buy anything from this company again.

  • Bought new obviously and from the beginning it took a long time to heat up the water and the temperature dropped very quickly.. Barely one, definitely not two..
The thermostat was changed and look what happened after 5 months of use.
Not satisfied for the money spent
