Purchased on 22/3/2023 and lasted until March 25. As long as its warranty. It often had issues with delays and disconnections. From basic use, I switched it to data backup since it was very slow. Diagnostic programs showed bad blocks but not enough to justify replacement. Truth be told, belatedly (1 month before the warranty expired) I returned it to the store where it was purchased (which had also changed address) to send it to Toshiba for inspection. They returned it to me after the warranty expired with a verbal notice that its condition did not justify replacement. By May 2025, it can't even do a fast format.
Of course, it has been tested with different USB cables and on multiple devices, including well-powered USB hubs.
In the past, I have encountered a problem with a 2.5'' drive (large capacities draw a lot of power and USB micro type B can sometimes be sensitive), but by replacing its enclosure with a good commercial case, I solved it. The problem with this particular one is that the USB micro type B is soldered onto its controller. It is not SATA so I could adapt it to another case in hopes of solving the issue if it was just a power supply problem.
So, throw it away and avoid this Toshiba series in the future. For large capacities, powered 3.5'' drives are probably more reliable.
