In the difficult days of the one-sided Civil War, immediately after Varkiza, a group of hunted fighters from ELAS found ourselves in the Akarnanian mountains.

We swore then that whoever survives would take on the responsibility of writing about the tragic moments we ourselves lived and the daily "funeral lament" of our people.

This moral obligation to my honored deceased comrades, which arises from our common oath, I wish to fulfill with this work.
