This memorandum is primarily aimed at the Greek student. However, it can also satisfy the requirements of the Greek intellectual interested in such books. People today detest long books. They prefer to read something short that directs their attention to essential topics.

Therefore, we have considered it appropriate to accompany each small or larger excerpt of the text with a modern Greek translation, so that there is no part of the text without any illumination; of course, we annotate the text, emphasizing those points that require more discussion.

Where we particularly insist - and this is the new aspect of this memorandum - is in concentrating the reader's attention on the essential and central themes examined in 1 Corinthians by sections, and analyzing their theological significance. This book is the result of several years of study and teaching of the Epistle.

And when one studies a text for years, one cannot say to whom they owe many things that they now consider their own. The bibliography on 1 Corinthians is extremely rich, whether it concerns commentaries or individual studies on various topics of the Epistle.

The reader, for example, will distinguish the presence within the text from the Church Fathers such as Chrysostom, and from the contemporaries like C. K. Barrett, H. Conzelmann, and - from our own - the late Pan. Trembelas. Both new and old serve to explain the text so that the reader leaves the study richer.
