The term cervical spondylosis describes the degenerative alteration of the cervical part of the spine. In other words, osteoarthritis of the cervical joints. Cervical spondylosis is a pathological condition characterized by the degeneration of the intervertebral discs and the vertebral bodies of the cervical spine. The body creates bony formations known as osteophytes to help support the degenerated joints. Osteophytes cause swelling of the spinal joints and spinal stenosis, resulting in pain and stiffness.

Symptoms:

Patients very often describe dull or sharp pain in the neck or between the shoulder blades, pain that radiates down the arm or fingers, or numbness or tingling in the shoulder or arm. Certain positions or neck movements may enhance the pain.
