Description

Description

This historical analysis and exploration of Economic Methodology examines both the methodology and the methods used in economic research by both ancient and contemporary economists for the development of theories and proposals aimed at improving human welfare.

By evaluating the mistakes, successes, and failures of economists, we seek to understand whether and to what extent the methods used are useful and constructive. In this way, methodological errors or omissions will be avoided, and thus the method that has proven to provide the most accurate or even the most effective proposals and solutions will be followed.

Furthermore, the principles on which Economic Science is based and its progress can be better understood if we examine the methodological path that economists have followed to this day.

This work mainly focuses on investigating the following methodological issues: (a) The purpose and content of economic science. (b) The methodological tools used by various economists to achieve the scientific goals they have set. (c) The manner in which fundamental economic assumptions are introduced. (d) The methods of testing and evaluating economic theories.
