Description

POSSIBLY THE MOST IMPORTANT MANAGEMENT BOOK, WRITTEN AS A THRILLING NOVEL

Alex Rogo is the stressed manager of a manufacturing plant that he is desperately trying to make more efficient. However, it is heading toward disaster. Alex has ninety days to save the factory – otherwise, it will be shut down by his company's headquarters, with whatever consequences that will have for all the employees.

A chance meeting with a professor from his college years, Jonah, will help him break free from conventional thinking, see things differently, and make groundbreaking decisions that will affect hundreds of lives.

An exciting read, through which Eliyahu M. Goldratt, the "guru of business," as described by Fortune, explains his theory in a simple way and can teach you to set goals for continuous improvement, deeply understanding the limits of your environment.

It is the book you must recommend to your colleagues and your superiors, but not to your competitors! Millions of copies in 35 countries. Required reading for all Amazon executives and for many MBA programs.

"A study of the reading habits of managers shows that while they buy works like those of Tom Peters to have in their library, the one book they have read from beginning to end is THE GOAL." The Economist

“And where is Bill Pitts now?” I ask.

“In your office,” Demsey replies.

“Okay, go and tell him, please, that I will go talk to him in a minute.”

Demsey willingly and hastily heads towards the office doors. I turn to Martinez and the hourly worker, who I now discover is the chief mechanic. I tell them that on my part no one will be fired or even put on leave – that the whole matter is a misunderstanding. At first, Martinez is not completely satisfied with this and the mechanic seems to want Pitts to apologize to him. I’m not going to get involved. I also happen to know that Martinez does not have the power to call the workers on strike. So I say that if the workers’ union wants to submit their complaints in writing, they can; I would be happy to speak with the local president, Mike O’Donnell, later today and settle everything in due course. Realizing that, anyway, he can’t do anything else before talking to O’Donnell, Martinez finally accepts it and together with the mechanic they start walking towards the factory.

Indeed, a management book written like a novel. I read it in 2 days! It has some basic accounting terminology, with which it is easy to familiarize even someone who has no previous experience. I highly recommend it, especially to those who are self-employed professionals/entrepreneurs.
