I have the MacBook Air M1 chip and it reaches 300 Mbps read and about 280 Mbps write on the Samsung Portable T7, since it is USB 3.2 and has 4 ports! And another thing, it doesn't get hot! I have a mouse, a cable for my phone, a flash drive, and a hard drive connected to it, and it stays at room temperature!
