Description

The 4th-generation BroadLink smart hub offers a more compact design, wider compatibility, and improved performance. It supports over 50,000 IR-controlled devices, including TVs, air conditioners, fans, speakers, and media players. The device can also monitor room temperature and humidity, and works with IFTTT, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant.

The BroadLink RM4 Mini is ideal for anyone looking to remotely control their devices and create a smarter home using a simple mobile app.

Meet the RM4 Mini

The RM4 Mini is a universal remote that lets you control your devices from your smartphone or tablet using infrared (IR). You can control your lights, air conditioner, TV, and other IR-compatible devices from anywhere.

Smart Home

It works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, allowing you to control your smart home with voice commands. You can also schedule your devices to turn on or off automatically at specific times throughout the day.

What is a Smart Hub?

A smart hub acts as the central control system for your smart home devices. It connects to the internet and communicates with compatible devices using wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Zigbee.

Through a smartphone app, browser-based dashboard, or voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, you can control devices such as smart lights, thermostats, security cameras, and more.

A smart hub can also automate everyday tasks based on your preferences, such as turning on lights when someone enters a room or adjusting the thermostat throughout the day.

One of the main advantages of a smart hub is that it lets you manage multiple devices from a single interface, making your smart home easier and more convenient to control.

How does it help me make my home smarter?

  • Remote Control: A smart hub lets you control your smart home from anywhere using your phone or computer. This means you can manage your home even when you're away.
  • Energy Saving: By coordinating your devices, a smart hub can help reduce energy usage. For example, it can automatically turn off smart lights when they’re not needed.
  • Automation: Automation is at the heart of a smart home. A smart hub lets you create rules that run automatically, such as turning devices on or off, adjusting the temperature, or controlling lighting based on your routines.
These automations save time, reduce energy costs, and make everyday life more convenient. Because the smart hub acts as a central controller, it connects your devices and lets them work together seamlessly, including smart locks, cameras, and other connected devices.

Advantages of a Smart Hub

A smart hub connects your smart home devices and lets you manage them from one place, such as your phone or tablet. Some of the advantages include:

  • Convenience: Control multiple devices from a single app, making everyday management simpler and more efficient.
  • Time-saving: Automate and schedule actions across your home, such as adjusting the temperature or turning devices on and off without manual input.
  • Increased security: Manage security cameras, alarms, and other safety devices remotely to keep your home protected at all times.
  • Cost-saving: Control lighting and thermostats more efficiently to reduce energy usage and lower your energy bills.

What should I consider before buying a Smart Hub?

  • Compatibility: Make sure the smart hub works with the devices you already have at home. Check its specifications to confirm supported devices and standards.
  • Platform: Some smart hubs rely on different ecosystems or apps, so ensure it works with the platform you prefer.
  • Security: Choose a smart hub with strong security features and regular updates, since connected devices can be vulnerable to online threats.
  • Features: Look for a smart hub that includes the functions you need, such as automation, remote access, or voice control.

Wi-Fi, IR, IFTTT Connectivity

  • Wi-Fi: Connects to smart devices over your home Wi-Fi network and can be controlled through a smartphone app.

  • IR: Controls infrared-compatible devices such as TVs and air conditioners. Works within line of sight.

  • IFTTT: Works with IFTTT to connect cloud services and smart devices, allowing you to create automated actions and routines for your smart home.

At a glance

  • Works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT
  • Supports 50,000+ IR codes via cloud database
  • Supports external temperature and humidity monitoring
  • Supports wireless and voice control
  • Multiple timers for IR devices
  • Power supply: 5V/1A

Note: The temperature and humidity sensor cable is sold separately and is not included in the box.

Connected to Home Assistant, it controls a ceiling fan along with lights. It is naturally trainable, but it allows you to record the commands within Home Assistant, so you don't even need its software to operate it.

The reason I got them is so I wouldn't have disconnections like I had with the air conditioner app, which kept disconnecting and needed either to be set up again or unplugged. In this regard, the RM4 mini is excellent; after a week, not a single disconnection and with very good range, unlike the remote controls where you have to go right up to them.

The reason I don't give it 5/5 is how difficult it is to connect to wifi for the first time. I tried all the methods, including scanning, but the connection kept failing. After failing 15 times, I was ready to return it, but I saw at the very bottom of the menu "General Wifi device," which worked. After that, I set up my Toyotomi-Gree air conditioners and Samsung TV in 2 minutes.

  • If it doesn't find the specific brand, try something else. For example, for me, it worked the Fuji on Fujitsu General and the Nordstar on Funi, and it works perfectly and without any problems. The TV, which is a 2025 model, was found immediately.

Really very good, beautiful, and very discreet... It does exactly what it promises quickly, easily, and without any problems, without losing its signal for a moment even if it doesn't have direct line of sight to the devices... As long as it's in the same room... Although I haven't tried it in an adjacent room, maybe... It gives new life to older devices and gives you peace of mind if you might have forgotten something on or off...

Incredible tool, I have connected everything in the house with IR, pellet stove, TV, air conditioner, TV box, amplifier. If you can't find the device in the menu, you can do it manually very easily and simply. I would suggest that you also buy the thermometer/hygrometer together. You can choose, for example, to have the air conditioner turn on if the temperature drops to 15°C and turn off whenever you want or turn it off yourself, and many more.

  • does its job perfectly. I use it on an old Sharp air conditioner. Nevertheless, it found it in its list, with a little effort and everything is fine. It was also programmed to turn on and off automatically when needed, in a space where temperatures can exceed 40 degrees. Excellent purchase. No problem.

It doesn't have all the ACs and you have to enter them manually. For the inverter I have, it's not there. Basically, it's a pain in the neck.

Very convenient device if you have devices with IR remotes. Personally, I have connected an air conditioner, TV, Hi-Fi system, and ceiling fan. If you also buy the temperature and humidity sensor from the same company, you can run scenarios such as turning on the air conditioner at a certain temperature or the fan, etc. Be careful with the programming of the devices. You will have some difficulty and obviously it will not support all the functions of the devices, but with a little effort, you will get the hang of it! Recommended, but not for complete beginners!

I added all the available devices effortlessly and without difficulty, it works perfectly with the company's app and also collaborates with Google Assistant by giving it voice commands. In case your device is not on the lists of known companies, there is an option through the learning function of the codes from the hub.

For collaboration with Home Assistant, I didn't even bother to set it up since it requires a lot of work, it's extremely complicated.

    Highly recommended.

I can't find my air conditioner (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries SRK/SRC-25ZSX-W) no matter what, and no matter how much I fight it, I can't "teach" it to read commands. It doesn't receive the signals from the control

It requires a lot of searching, especially if the connected device is not in the database. It needs proper setup, particularly with air conditioners!! Other than that, and provided you purchase the (extra) cable with the temperature/humidity sensor, it becomes a very worthwhile and discreet internet wireless controller

    Very good!!!
I installed it in the countryside at the vacation home.
The air conditioners I wanted to control are not on the list, I set it to learn the frequencies but I wasn't completely satisfied. So I put in some of the well-known brands and it worked. Easily. I found that the frequencies used by my air conditioners are also used by many other companies. So with very little searching, all good!!!

In terms of hardware, it is very good. The database it has for devices is so-so; most of them need to be learned button by button. Of course, that's how it is for everything.

If you want it for home assistant, don't bother trying to add devices to its app; HA won't see them. Just connect it to the wifi and add the devices to HA. Not even SmartIR helped me; I learned everything manually and created custom cards. It took half a day, but it was worth the effort.

Very good at its job. I used it on an air conditioner, amplifier, and television. Even on the old air conditioner, I managed to create commands to turn it on and change the temperature. I also got the cable that shows the temperature (not provided: Broadlink HTS2 Temperature and Humidity Sensor USB Cable 6 and something euros) and I made start and end programs. Also, it has a strong signal.

Extremely user-friendly and a very cheap and reliable solution for devices that do not connect directly to the internet. Personally, I use it for a Fujitsu air conditioner and it has been a game changer when I want to operate it remotely. I have also connected it with a Samsung TV and MAG TV box. I highly recommend it.

I got it for €15 so I could control an old air conditioner from a distance, and it not only does that but also integrated into Google Home to work in routines, and all the infrared devices in the house were added. A big plus is that it works in the same room even without direct line of sight. Very convenient, and the learning feature allows you to set multiple functions in one, but this only works in its own app, not in Google Home.

Very good! The setup via mobile app is super easy. The connection with a Fujitsu air conditioner over 15 years old took a bit longer, as the pre-defined profiles were not functional. In the end, it prompted me to beam the control to the hub, and it recognized it immediately, with all functions operational. I also got the extra USB cable with the temperature/humidity sensor - excellent addition.

Flawless, works perfectly. Note that if the air conditioner is controlled both by remote control and by the hub, then the hub does not know its status. This is a big problem if the air conditioner has the same command for opening and closing, so when you tell the hub to close it, it opens it because it was already closed.

I got it for devices that do not have WiFi and I wanted to open them remotely, such as the air conditioner! I have put several devices on it and it works perfectly! So far, flawless! If you buy it, get the power cable that has a temperature sensor on it.. And this counts well and helps in operations! For my taste, it is beautiful in appearance although I would like it to come out in silver color too! Its size is much smaller than the photos show!

It does exactly what it promises! I tuned both my air conditioners easily and quickly. Even if your air conditioner is not on the list, you can tune it manually.

Smaller than I expected but it works fine and receives from a distance as long as there is direct contact. With one I managed to control the TV and AC which are in different corners of the living room.

It works with all the remote controls I have tried. Good coverage in the room even when it is at the other end of the room. It always responds correctly and without disconnections, everything is fine. I bought a second one too.

Perfect, it does everything smart (whatever you take to your home remote), but be careful if you are using some intermediate device after the router (mesh), it doesn't find it because it needs to run on 2.4 and not on 5

  • The reason I got them is so I wouldn't have disconnections like I had with the air conditioner app, which kept disconnecting and needed either to be set up again or unplugged.
