This book concerns the life and spiritual activism of Dimitrios Galanos, the first European Indologist. He lived for 40 years among the Brahmins of the city of Benares, gained deep insight into Indian culture, and authored countless works (20 volumes of manuscripts).
All of this, along with his material possessions, he bequeathed to the newly established Greek state. Half of his estate was allocated for the founding of the University of Athens.
This book aims to make the name of Galanos more widely known to the Greek public and to serve as a catalyst for further research related to the life and work of the great but forgotten Athenian sage.
