This new book is a collection of legislation regarding private insurance. The legislation is updated to the present day in accordance with the amendments that have occurred in recent years, primarily affecting automobile accident insurance (harmonization with the 5th - codified - Directive on automobiles), the transfer of state supervision of private insurance to the Bank of Greece, the harmonization of Greek law with the Directive on reinsurance companies, certain other issues of financial supervision of EU law, and the establishment of a life insurance guarantee fund.

Specifically, it includes provisions: A) Law 2496/1997 on the insurance contract and private insurance, B) Law 3816/1958 on marine insurance, C) Law 1815/1988 on aviation insurance, D) Royal Decree 489/1976 on civil liability from automobiles, E) Legislative Decree 400/1970 on insurance business, F) Legislative Decree 551/1970 on insurance business for ships-aircraft, G) Law 3867/2010 on the supervision of private insurance, the establishment of a private life insurance guarantee fund, H) Law 1569/1985 on mediation in private insurance contracts, the establishment of a body of specialized experts in traffic accidents, the operation of an international insurance office, and I) Presidential Decree 190/2006 for the adaptation of Greek legislation to Directive 2002/92/EC regarding insurance mediation.

Along with the presentation of the legislation, a significant effort has also been made to contribute to the understanding of the provisions with interpretative comments and critical observations useful for their accurate application. The work is complemented by the English translation of the main Insurance Law (Law 2496/1997).
