They have some waterproofing but they are not waterproof. After a long time in the rain, they will take in water.
The downsides for me are that it is a bit of a heavy shoe and that even though I have tightened the laces, after a while they loosen up.
It is not easy to change the laces or remove them to wash them due to the way they are tied.
