I bought it from Duty Free at the airport. At first, I didn't like it at all. It was a bad black carpet. I regretted the money I spent. I drank it with a ice cube. Wrong size, as it turned out. One day, I poured a little straight into a glass and because I was too lazy to go get ice, I drank it straight. It was a different whiskey. I poured again. and then again. It was actually pretty good. I'm not an expert, I can't judge it with the classic terminology used for aroma and taste-aftertaste. I judge whiskey based on how much it attracts me to drink more when the glass is empty. We had a Macallan 12 Sherry Oak almost all to ourselves, two people, as we sat and talked, adding a little bit each time and not being able to stop. It was so good that when it was finished, you wanted more to feel the aroma and taste again. This one is not as addictive, but it was good enough that when it finished, you happily and eagerly poured the next one, something I can't say for any of the mainstream blended Scotch whiskies or even many of the affordable single malts I've tried (like Macallan Amber, which fortunately I don't see anywhere anymore). Strictly straight without water or ice, it's great. If you drink your whiskey with water or ice (we're not even discussing coke, etc.), get something else.

Decent whiskey for its category, but I would prefer Glenfiddich, which is also cheaper.

After the Glenmorangie, which are all above 4.2 stars, I believe this is the immediately best.
