The MIG method requires the wire to have a special coating (flux) or else it needs to be connected to an external gas cylinder (e.g., argon, CO2). Meanwhile, the TIG method is suitable for slow welding on aluminum and stainless steel that requires detailed work and does not create splashes. It can operate continuously for 2.5 minutes at 180A before needing to stop to cool down. Therefore, you may need more time to melt thicker wires and make more passes on thick welds due to the low maximum amperage it supports. It is easily portable as it weighs 2kg.
