I have been playing music for many years with the Pioneer cdj-500S (with CDs). I wanted to get my first DJ Controller and I bought the small Numark, the Party Mix, which is excellent for its price. However, it limits you to what you can do.
After a lot of research and seeing/reading many reviews, I was torn between the very good but old Pioneer SB3, the new (at the time) Hercules inpulse 300, and the new (at the time) Numark Platinum FX.
In the end, I bought the Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX and I am really lucky that I made this choice. It is top quality for the money and in this category. They say it in all the reviews. Its size is ideal. Not too big but not too small.
The major advantages it has over other controllers in its category are:
- The large jog wheels. The largest in the category. Very high quality with perfect response. As they say in the reviews, they are a bit heavy for those who like scratching, but something you get used to over time.
- The screen in the center of each jog wheel. It shows you the absolute essentials and if you know your songs well, you don't need to look at the computer screen almost at all. A big advantage as it gives you time to focus on your DJ set.
- The song speed selector (BPM) is the largest in the category by far. It is so big that it greatly facilitates selecting the right song speed.
- The central part with the effects. It gives a professional tone to the controller. Truly, after a while of getting used to the function of the effects with the pads, there is no comparison to any other controller in this matter, not only in this category but even in the higher categories. The creativity that the pad effects give you is tremendous, fast, and easy.
Overall, the controller is an excellent choice. The best in its category for sure. Once someone learns to play well with this controller, I don't think there is a reason to get a controller from a higher category. It comes with the free Serato DJ lite, with which you can play more than decently. You will need around €100 if you want to buy the full version of Serato DJ Pro, which unlocks many more capabilities. If you have patience, you might find the full version of Serato on sale for half the price on a black Friday (I'm also waiting for that).
Παίζω μουσική πολλά χρόνια με τα Pioneer cdj-500S (με CD). Ήθελα να πάρω τον πρώτο DJ Controller και αγόρασα τον μικρό της Numark, το Party Mix ο οποίος είναι εξαιρετικός για τα χρήματα του. Όμως σε δεσμεύει σε αυτά που μπορείς να κάνεις.
Μετά από πάρα πολύ ψάξιμο και βλέποντας/διαβάζοντας πολλά reviews ήμουν ανάμεσα στον πολύ καλό αλλά παλιό Pioneer SB3, τον καινούργιο (τότε) Hercules inpulse 300 και τον καινούργιο (τότε) Numark Platinum FX.
Τελικά αγόρασα τον Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX και πραγματικά είμαι τυχερός που έκανα την επιλογή αυτή.
Ποιοτικά είναι κορυφή στα χρήματα και στην κατηγορία αυτή. Το λένε άλλωστε σε όλα τα reviews.
Το μέγεθος του είναι ιδανικό. Ούτε μεγάλο αλλά ούτε μικρό.
Τα μεγάλα πλεονεκτήματα του απέναντι στους άλλους controllers της κατηγορίας είναι τα εξής:
- Τα μεγάλα jog wheels. Τα μεγαλύτερα στην κατηγορία. Πολύ ποιοτικά με άψογο response. Όπως λένε στα reviews είναι λίγο βαριά για όποιον του αρέσει το scratch, κάτι όμως που το συνηθίζει κάνεις με τον καιρό.
- Η οθόνη στο κέντρο κάθε jog wheel. Σου δείχνει τα απολύτως απαραίτητα και πραγματικά αν γνωρίζεις τα τραγούδια σου καλά, δεν χρειάζεται να κοιτάς σχεδόν καθόλου την οθόνη του υπολογιστή. Μεγάλο πλεονέκτημα καθώς έχεις χρόνο να ασχοληθείς με το DJ Set σου.
- Ο επιλογέας ταχύτητας τραγουδιού (BPM) είναι ο μεγαλύτερος στην κατηγορία με διάφορα κιόλας. Είναι τόσο μεγάλο που σε διευκολύνει απίστευτα όταν θέλεις να επιλέξεις την σωστή ταχύτητα τραγουδιού.
- Το κεντρικό κομμάτι με τα εφφέ. Δίνει έναν επαγγελματικό τόνο στον Controller. Πραγματικά μετά από καιρό που έχω συνηθίσει την λειτουργεία των εφφέ με τα pads δεν υπάρχει καμία σύγκριση με κανέναν άλλο controller στο θέμα αυτό, όχι μόνο της κατηγορίας αλλά ακόμα και στις μεγάλες κατηγορίες. Η δημιουργικότητα που σου δίνουν τα pad effects είναι τρομερή, γρήγορη και εύκολη.
Συνολικά ο controller είναι μια άριστη επιλογή. Ο καλύτερος στην κατηγορία του σίγουρα. Εφόσον κάποιος μάθει να παίζει καλά με τον controller αυτό, νομίζω ότι δεν υπάρχει λόγος να πάρει κάποιον controller της παραπάνω κατηγορίας.
Έρχεται με το δωρεάν Serato DJ lite, με το οποίο μπορείτε να παίξετε παραπάνω από αξιοπρεπέστατα. Θα χρειαστείτε ένα ποσό γύρω στα 100€ αν θελήσετε να αγοράσετε την πλήρη έκδοση Serato DJ Pro η οποία ξεκλειδώνει παρά πολλές ακόμα δυνατότητες. Αν έχετε υπομονή ίσως βρείτε σε προσφορά στην μισή τιμή την πλήρη έκδοση του Serato σε κάποιο black Friday (αυτήν περιμένω κι'εγώ).
