Description

The classic light meter with roots in the famous Norwood Director, the Sekonic L-398A has become a favorite among filmmakers worldwide. It offers a pure analog experience, with the needle of the meter and the aperture setting system providing all reading combinations at a glance.

Light metering can be performed with the Lumisphere for over 180 degrees for general readings of three-dimensional objects, or with the Lumidisc for selective area readings, measuring the lighting ratios between bright and dark areas or the light falling on flat objects like artworks, outdoor measurements, or under bright lights in the studio.

The rotating head of the Sekonic L-398A allows you to keep the measurement button pressed and "walk the set" to check lighting levels. Release the button and the needle locks the analog display of the meter for easy exposure readings. The readings are suitable for both static and cinematic applications.

For reflective readings, a flat Lumigrid replaces the Lumisphere. If you plan to shoot with a fixed ISO and shutter speed, an optional Slide Set (Instant Reading Disks) makes it easy to take measurements in fast shooting scenarios. The Sekonic L-398A Studio Deluxe III makes it an ideal primary or backup meter for photographers of still or cinematic imagery.
