For the money it costs, it’s the best you can get! I’ve mounted it on a CANON R50 as an upgrade from the 18-45 kit lens. The 50mm is much sharper in exactly the same shooting scenarios! It gives maximum sharpness at F5.6 for whenever it’s needed. Usually I shoot at 1.8 and 2.8. Buy it and get out there to enjoy it!

The Canon RF 50mm F1.8 STM is one of the best lenses in its class. It combines excellent image quality, small size, and an affordable price. The bright f/1.8 aperture offers beautiful, natural bokeh and impressive photos in low-light conditions. The lens sharpness is very good. The STM autofocus works properly and is not noisy. Smooth and fast focusing. Small weight and size, excellent for everyday use, travel, and street photography.
It is a lens that significantly improves the creative result. I come from a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G, while I use the Canon lens on a Canon EOS R50.

Excellent lens, strong shots even in quite low lighting without losses or grain. You just need to keep in mind that when framing you need a bit more distance than you would expect (x1.5).

For a bright 50mm backup, it's just fine, the autofocus is slow but for its price, you can justify it..

Get it to have it... At this price you won't believe the image it produces! And you always have it with you because it's small and super light. Don't be confused, it's not just for portraits. Put it on your camera and experiment when it starts to get dark or just before dawn. Ok, it doesn't have stabilization but the f/1.8 will help you with the shutter speeds. GET IT yesterday!

Crazy value for money, very good sturdy construction and the image quality is excellent. I highly recommend it for those who want to get a lens that is both affordable and objectively much better for the money it costs. Very nice portraits!!

Good lens, super price of 120 euro, during black friday period. But it's quite noise, at least for me it's a non significant issue.

I bought this particular lens because the L series ones I have are heavier, larger, and above all, I don't want to use them outside of professional purposes.

For those who have already used the EF, they will see no difference in AF speed, image quality, and STM mechanism noise—only in the build quality, which indeed seems far better.

For those who started out with RF USM lenses, the STM motor will make a negative impression as it is much slower and noisier. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that this lens is Canon's cheapest option for a bright prime lens, and that's exactly what it offers.

5/5 stars, then, because for what it is, it does its job excellently, and above all, anyone involved in photography—whether a hobbyist or a professional—knows that equipment makes things easier. It's not the magic solution.

First day test: I bought it because the kit of the Canon camera I purchased came with a 24-105 f4 STM which, from the afternoon onwards, could not take a photo without a tripod. This one is f1.8 and it's like day and night in terms of brightness! For video, indeed the auto focus makes noise and you can hear it in the recording. Other than that, it focuses relatively quickly. For the money I bought it for, it's truly amazing at €129 (Black Friday discount period). Also, compared to a zoom lens, this one is much more compact, making it easier to carry the camera, it takes up less space.

Basically, it is the ef 50mm stm refreshed for Canon's eos r series. It has better construction than the ef or at least that's how it feels in my hands. Otherwise, in terms of size and weight, it is more or less the same, as well as in the image it produces, it is more or less the same as the ef. It is a cheap but quite decent rf lens that I wouldn't say is a must-have, but if you have it, it definitely won't sit collecting dust on the shelf. The negatives are the autofocus, which is just mediocre in every aspect, and the motor, which is noisy. For amateur use, it is just fine; for professional use, I wouldn't recommend it.

Excellent lens. With quality construction and given its low price, you get a decent lens both in photography and in video. Clearly, it cannot be compared to the expensive range, but overall, in its category, it is just fine.

It is the cheapest RF replacement for the equivalent 50mm in EF version.
Quite satisfactory photographically, but also in video, although I would expect something more, no one will be disappointed by this investment.

Build quality miles away from the old EF 50 even though both lenses are similar in optical performance.
The big advantage is that you don't need the adapter if you have R, R6, R5, so it significantly reduces the size and additionally you have the control ring in front (if you need it).
On the negative side, I notice more vignetting than the EF but okay, it can be corrected to a large extent in post-processing.

It's a bit more expensive than it should be, but the lack of options in affordable RF lenses makes it a one-way street.
