1. It can be connected to two devices with RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485 port, e.g. computer or modem to an RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485 port.

2. It can connect a device with RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485 port to two RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485 lines.
