This book aims to be the first modern Greek translation of the first three books of Titus Livius' Ab Urbe Condita.
Book A refers to the myths surrounding the founding of Rome: Aeneas, Ascanius, Romulus and Remus, the abduction of the Sabine women, the history of the Roman Empire, and the expulsion of Tarquinius Superbus. It covers the period up to 510 BC. Book B refers to the founding of the Republic by Brutus, the wars against Tarquinius Superbus and Porzena, the secession of the plebeians, and the Volscian Wars. It covers the period from 509 to 468 BC. Book C refers to the period of the Decemvirate from 467 to 446 BC.
This is primarily a useful edition, aimed at students of philological and historical departments, as well as the general public. The introduction and comments are limited to what is absolutely necessary for understanding the work and do not claim originality. Concise chapter descriptions of the content of the books are presented, and basic (mostly historical) comments are required. These comments were mainly drawn from Valerie Warrior's book, The History of Rome, Books 1-5. The edition by Robert Ogilvie (Oxford 1974) was used as the basis for the Latin text. Any deviations from this edition are noted in the Comparative Table of Writings.
