The MELOS rosin has been tested and works successfully under any conditions, specifically for each instrument. It is produced for every instrument in two different types: "light" and "dark".

• Light: Ideal for high ambient temperatures (spring or summer), offers a softer playing experience and is suitable for solo performances in chamber music.
• Dark: Suitable for lower ambient temperatures (autumn or winter), provides a "full" playing experience, ideal for orchestras or solo performances in large concerts.

For Greek bowed string instruments (Pontian, Cretan & Politiki lyra), two types of rosin, "light" & "dark", are also produced. The "light" offers a more "soft" playing experience, while the "dark" provides a more "powerful" one. The "light" is recommended for the Politiki lyra and the "dark" for the Cretan lyra.
