Description

Description

The Yeelight Bluetooth Mesh Gateway supports two access methods, WLAN connection and Wi-Fi connection. It can connect Yeelight Bluetooth devices, such as the Yeelight M2 Down-light, Yeelight M2 Spotlight, and the Yeelight T43 Bulb to the cloud, thus enabling smart functionalities for these lighting fixtures through AIoT platforms like Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.

What is a Smart Hub?

The Smart Hub is a device that serves as a central control point for your smart home devices. It typically connects to the internet and uses wireless communication protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Zigbee to communicate with other smart devices, such as smart lights, thermostats, security cameras, and more.

The smart hub can be controlled via a smartphone app, a web interface, or even through voice commands using a virtual assistant like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. It can also automate actions based on user preferences, such as turning on the lights when someone enters a room or adjusting the thermostat based on the time of day.

One of the advantages of using it is that it allows for easier control and automation of multiple devices from a single interface.

Overall, a Smart Hub can help simplify the management of a "smart home" and enhance the user experience.

How does it help me make my home smarter?

  • Remote Control: With the smart hub, you can control your smart home remotely using your mobile phone or computer. This allows you to manage your home even when you are not there.
  • Energy Saving: The smart hub can coordinate your devices and help save energy. For example, it can control your smart lights and turn them off automatically when they are not needed.
  • Automation: Automation is a key factor in the operation of a smart home, and smart hub devices significantly contribute to creating automations. This can include setting up automatic rules for turning devices on and off, adjusting the home temperature, setting the lighting, and much more. Automation helps you save time, reduce energy costs, and make your life easier. A smart hub can facilitate the creation of automations in your smart home, acting as a central controller for your various devices. It can connect your devices and coordinate their functions using built-in sensors and other technologies. It can also work with other smart home systems, such as a smart lock or smart camera.

Advantages of a Smart Hub

A smart hub is a device that connects multiple smart devices in your home and allows you to control them from a central location. Some of the advantages include:

Convenience: You can control many smart devices from a central point, such as a smartphone or tablet, making your life easier.

Time-saving: You can control multiple devices simultaneously and schedule various actions, such as automatic temperature control in your home, allowing you to save time.

Increased security: With the smart hub, you can monitor your security cameras and alarm devices, enabling you to enhance the security of your home.

Cost-saving: With the ability to control lighting and thermostats remotely, you can save money on your bills.

What should I consider before buying a Smart Hub?

  • Compatibility: Ensure that the smart hub you choose is compatible with the devices you have in your home. Check the specifications of the smart hub and make sure it supports your devices.

  • Platform: Make sure that the smart hub supports the software platform you wish to use. Some smart hubs use different platforms, so ensure you have the correct platform for the smart hub you want to purchase.

  • Security: Ensure that the smart hub you choose has good security practices and has been updated for the latest security threats. Smart hubs are connected to the internet and can be a target for malicious attackers.

  • Features: Make sure that the smart hub you choose has all the functions you need.

If you want it to keep a history from the Xiaomi Mi Temperature & Humidity Monitor 2 NUN4126GL sensors, it is very good. You can monitor the history without having to sync the phone with the sensors, and it also works remotely, you don't need to be there! I take off one star because it only requires the China mainland region, it doesn't work in Greece or any other European country!

I got it as the cheapest BT hub to connect and get additional features for BT smart devices from Xiaomi and the sister Yeelight.
It recognized my Xiaomi motion lights and I have some additional features like when they were activated and battery indication in Home Assistant via integration.
I was neither impressed nor disappointed.
I will also try the BT contacts from Xiaomi and maybe a thermometer from them.
If they satisfy me there, I might increase the rating.
    4 stars for now.

Update: It does not support either Xiaomi door sensors or the thermometer.
I am lowering the rating to 2 stars because ultimately its compatibility is very limited.
Mainly Yeelight lights and a few Xiaomi ones.
I am sidelining it and a Xiaomi C500 indoor camera will take on the role of the hub, which clearly supports more BLE accessories.

    What a shame.

Sturdy and quality device in the size of Xiaomi's Tv Box.
In my case, it had a charger inside (I read somewhere a comment that the charger was missing).
I bought it to connect some Yeelight bulbs that I had bought from a foreign website and were not connecting to the existing Xiaomi Hub I had.
What impressed me positively is that now I can see my Xiaomi thermometer remotely, while before I could only see it when I was inside the house, that is, up to the range of bluetooth.
Another positive is that it shows the battery percentage of the connected bluetooth devices.

Connected easily without any problem. The spotlights recognized it easily.

The house is filled with Chinese junk...
A gateway for the thermometers, another junk for the wireless camera with battery, another junk to control the air condition (to open and close it), and so on...

    I think it's laughable...
