Socrates opens the discussion by referring to the main points he presented to the same group of people the previous day (17a-19b), and the recap coincides exactly with the contents of the first five books of the "Republic." The work is divided into three distinct parts: a) the introductory recap of the contents of the first five books of the "Republic" (17a-19b) by Socrates, with an expression of the strong desire to implement the theory into specific achievements (19b-20c); b) Critias's narration of the rumored resistance and victory of Athens against the kings of Atlantis (20c-26d); and c) Timaeus's cosmological speech without interruptions from the audience, except for some sporadic interjections of agreement by Socrates (27c-92c).
