Description

Description

Tank

The water storage tank features an internal stainless steel coating. This results in long-lasting durability, as it prevents corrosion and rust formation, ensuring clean water at all times.

Tank technical specifications

  • Thermal tank made of stainless steel 316 L HiMo.
  • Heat exchanger made of stainless steel 316 L HiMo.
  • Thermal tank insulation (polyurethane 70mm, 35-40kg/m³).
  • External cover of the thermal tank made of non-magnetic stainless steel 304 BA.
  • Safety valve (relief valve).
  • Specially constructed electric resistance, anti-corrosive, with safety thermostat.
  • Anti-corrosive (anodic) protection.
  • Hot water outlet.
  • Closed circuit pipe.
  • Cold water inlet (water supply network) with 10atm safety valve.

Collector

The collector has a surface area of 2.7m², capable of producing up to 270 liters of hot water. It is selective, the type most commonly used in solar water heaters in recent years. It has lower heat losses compared to a simple collector, thus offering higher efficiency.

Collector Technical Specifications

  1. Frame and back of the collector made of anodized aluminum
  2. Collector surface with blue selective coating made of 0.5mm thick selective aluminum sheets, welded with laser technology.
  3. Hydraulic skeleton entirely made of copper
  4. Fiberglass insulation at the back with a thickness of 50mm and rock wool insulation on the sides with a thickness of 20mm.
  5. Absorption coefficient α ≥ 0.95 ± 0.02
  6. Emission coefficient of selective surface ε ≤ 0.05 ± 0.02

Dual Energy

It is dual-energy, meaning it can operate in two ways: with solar or with electric energy. This means that inside the water tank there is an electric resistance, so on days with little sunshine due to cloudiness, you can operate your solar water heater with electric energy and always have hot water.

Solar Water Heater Maintenance

Regular maintenance of the solar water heater optimizes the quality, hygiene, and operational performance, while also saving on energy consumption. For the smooth operation of the solar water heater, regular maintenance by a specialized team is required. The necessary actions during the maintenance of the solar water heater are:

  • Checking the level of solar fluids & refilling where necessary.
  • Inspecting and repairing the insulation on the local solar pipes.
  • Checking and replacing the magnesium anode to prevent the formation of salts inside the solar water heater.
  • Inspecting and cleaning the electric resistance.

Maltese equals garbage….I bought it from the Maltese in Piraeus on Iroon Polytechniou street…It only works well in the summer when the temperature is above 28-30 degrees….all winter it runs on electricity and the resistance takes forever to heat up, and they've changed it for me twice in the last few years…it will soon become a grill and I’ll get another brand….the company’s service is expensive and terrible…get a cheaper one from another company….stay away…a friend of mine with the same solar water heater says the same things!!!

Today it was installed (22-8-23) and its construction is very good, I am completely satisfied. It replaced an old Stiebel Ectron solar panel that lasted 27 years without any maintenance... except for one time when I moved it to another part of the roof. My plumber told me that with maintenance on the Maltese solar panel every 3 years to keep the warranty valid... it will last for 40 years... only time will tell... I hope it will last longer than the old one. It is worth every penny... and the collectors are selective, nothing like my old one. The only downside is its price, it's a bit expensive... but it's worth it...

I have had it for 25 years, so I have a complete opinion. It is very good, it has a long lifespan, it is stainless steel, but you need to change the magnesium rod every two to three years. I do this because I clean it internally and because it fills with salts from the network, just like the resistance, which I clean or replace when it breaks. Its performance is good, although its mirrors are of old technology and do not have selective glass like the current ones, which work even better. However, the idea that it works even on cloudy days is a misconception. There is no chance that any mirror works in such conditions. I am a family of three, and in winter, if there is no sun in Attica for a few days, there is a problem, it does not heat. I believe this is logical, so do not listen to those who say that it heats even on cloudy days. Of course, it is quite expensive, almost twice the price of regular cheap solar heaters. This is its negative aspect. I have the 160-liter one, which I bought years ago for a thousand euros. I also want to emphasize the construction of its support, which is very sturdy compared to others. After all these years, I had to make some upgrades. I replaced one mirror with a 30% larger one to cover me during the winter. Overall, it is good if you have a family of three or more. It would be good to install the 200-liter one for maintenance. The resistance, along with the magnesium rod, can be purchased from Maltezos or stores that sell Maltezos. However, there are spare parts available in the market that produce reliable resistances for Maltezos, as Maltezos does not produce them themselves. Just make sure the resistance is made of copper, or even better, nickel-plated, to avoid capturing too much salt and to prevent easy damage. I don't know if this quality is still available today.
