This edition was jointly decided by the author Giannis Delygiannis, but was based on an idea by Mr. Paschalis Kitromilidis, Emeritus Professor of Political Science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Presenting, after On the Republic in 2015, On the Laws in 2017, he proposed to publish a unified edition that combines these dialogues, in order to make them more accessible to a broader audience.

In this edition, the Greek translation of the dialogues has been improved where deemed necessary, while the footnotes have been limited to absolutely essential factual and interpretative comments, so as to facilitate the understanding of the texts.

The bibliography provided at the end of the edition has been selected and updated with editions, studies, and articles from the last three years, so that the reader can follow the evolution of research on the topics addressed in the two dialogues.

The edition concludes with a table matching excerpts from the Greek translation of the dialogues with passages from the most recent critical edition of their Latin text, thus offering the reader the opportunity to more easily locate the original, along with three indices (of excerpts, names, and terms).
