The other one leaked after ten years. And all this in Athens. In the village, I installed an unknown brand 22 years ago and it hasn't had any problems.

I have had it for 8 years, it was working fine until today. When I tried to turn it on, the power went out. I went to the rooftop (where I have it installed) and water was leaking from the boiler (it had a hole). It's a shame because ELCO was a very good company! It wasn't one of the good purchases I have made!!!
Τον έχω 8 χρόνια, δούλευε μια χαρά έως σήμερα. Μέχρι που πήγα να τον ανάψω και έπεσε ο γενικός του ρεύματος. Πήγα στην ταράτσα (Που έχω τον συγκεκριμένο) και έτρεχε νερό απ'το καζάνι (Boiler) (Δηλαδή είχε τρυπήσει). Κρίμα γιατί η ELCO ήταν πολύ καλή εταιρεία! Δεν ήταν μια από τις καλές αγορές που έχω κάνει!!!

Not very economical in terms of price though..
I have the same boiler but back then it came in stainless steel style, not black.. And stainless steel means only the side covers.. The boiler is probably chrome with electrostatic paint.. Steel with glass coating if I remember correctly..
I don't know if anything else has changed besides the color..
I can't say it literally boiled the water.. Even with cloudy weather, the selective collectors did something, which are still okay. I have no complaints here I think.. The collectors are probably made by another company, I've seen the same ones in another solar system.. I don't know..
But the insulation inside the boiler (cotton or something, I can't remember now) is probably not the best because it didn't keep the stored hot water for long on cold days.. It bothered me a little but I expected it somewhat..
I did the service myself. In these years, I changed the fluids 2-3 times and cleaned the boiler from salts, changed the anode and resistance.. The issue is that from half of its lifespan, the boiler started showing signs of rust, without any leaks though.. And it often released water from the coolant valve.. The components used were copper, except for one plug that came with the boiler from the manufacturer, which was galvanized.. The pipes to the house were plastic.. Now it seems that the boiler has leaked and is running on the side where the coolant valve is on top.. Although it's also leaking from other points.. Probably because the water stagnates inside.. Anyway, it's really a shame that it leaked so early.. Not even ~8 years.. Let's see what we'll do.. But overall, I think the product (boiler) is somewhat expensive for what it offers..
I should note here that even the base of the boiler, which is supposed to be galvanized, is starting to show signs of rust because it holds water on top when it rains.. It's like a boat just below the boiler.. I probably won't buy the same boiler again.. As long as the collectors/base are okay, I'll search for another boiler/water heater.. That's it.. Any advice is welcome..
I made a general evaluation, I hope it's not a problem..
Oh, one more thing, I see some other ancient solar systems on the rooftop, for years now, which have probably been left to their fate and haven't been maintained, for whatever that means..

In the end, I only changed the boiler, the plates are okay..
I installed something economical, with a trick on the base, and it seems to be working fine..
But it's really unbelievable to spend a three-digit amount for replacing the boiler with installation, etc., and they don't even take it for recycling for 10-15€.. The technicians took it for recycling.. Now let's see how long this one will last.. Just be careful when changing the boiler to replace any necessary things like coolant and any accessories like valves, etc..
And it's good to do a service every 2 years they say.. And for the warranty to be valid..
The boiler I bought has a 10-year warranty, let's see, compared to the old one from Elco that had a 5-year warranty.. But overall, although Elco seemed much more solid and well-made, it turned out to be the opposite..
Let's see the cheapest one now..

The issue I wanted to mention, reading from other users that the kettle seems to be leaking in the same spot for all of us.. That is, where the coolant filling valve is..
If this is indeed true, one could wonder about a manufacturing defect.. Material inaccuracy or whatever it is called..
There is no other explanation if it is leaking in the same spot for all of us..

Όχι πολύ οικονομικός σαν τιμή πάντως..
Εγώ έχω το ίδιο καζάνι αλλά τότε έβγαινε σε στυλ ανοξείδωτο όχι μαύρο.. Και ανοξείδωτο εννοείται μόνο τα πλαϊνά καπάκια.. Το καζάνι είναι χρώμιο μάλλον με ηλεκτροστατική βαφή.. Χάλυβας με glass επίστρωση αν θυμάμαι καλά..
Δεν ξερω αν έχει αλλάξει κάτι άλλο εκτός από το χρώμα..
Δεν μπορώ να πω το νερό το έβραζε κυριολεκτικά.. Ακόμα και με συννεφιά κάτι έκαναν οι επιλεκτικοι συλλέκτες, οι οποίοι είναι οκ ακόμα. Δεν έχω κάποιο παράπονο εδώ νομίζω.. Οι συλλέκτες μάλλον φτιάχνονται από άλλη εταιρεία, έχω δει ίδιους σε άλλο ηλιακό.. Δεν ξέρω..
Αλλά η μόνωση του καζανιού εσωτερικά (βαμβακας κάτι, μου διαφεύγει τώρα) μάλλον δεν είναι ότι καλύτερο γιατί σε κρύες ημέρες δεν κράταγε πολύ το αποθηκευμένο ζεστό νερό.. Εδώ με χάλασε ψιλό αλλά το περίμενα ολίγον..
Σέρβις έκανα μόνος,. Σε αυτά τα χρόνια άλλαξα 2-3 φορές τα υγρά και καθάρισα το καζάνι από άλατα, άλλαξα ανοδιο κ αντίσταση.. Το θέμα είναι ότι από τα μισά χρόνια της ζωής του το καζάνι άρχισε να δείχνει σημάδια σκουριάς, χωρίς να τρέχει από κάπου όμως.. Και μου πέταγε συχνά νερά από τη βαλβίδα του κυκλώματος του αντιψυκτικου.. Τα εξαρτήματα που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν ήταν ορείχαλκος, εκτός από τη μια τάπα που είχε το καζάνι απο μαμά, στα υγρά του αντιψυκτικου που ήταν γαλβανιζε.. Οι σωλήνες μέχρι το σπίτι πλαστικό.. Τώρα μάλλον απ' ότι φαίνεται έχει τρυπήσει κ τρέχει το καζάνι στη πλευρά που είναι η βαλβίδα του αντιψυκτικου από πάνω.. Αν και τρέχει κ από αλλά σημεία.. Μάλλον επειδή λιμνάζει το νερό εσωτερικά.. Πάντως πραγματικά κρίμα που τρύπησε τόσο νωρίς.. Ούτε ~8 χρόνια.. Για να δούμε τι θα κάνουμε.. Αλλά γενικά νομίζω ότι είναι κάπως ακριβό το προϊόν (καζάνι) για αυτά που προσφέρει..
Να σημειώσω εδώ ότι και η μαμά βάση του που λέει ότι είναι γαλβανιζε νομίζω, έχει αρχίσει να δείχνει σημάδια σκουριάς γιατί κρατάει νερά στο πάνω μέρος της όταν βρέχει έξω.. Είναι σαν σκάφη κάπως ακριβώς κάτω από το καζάνι.. Μάλλον δεν θα πάρω το ίδιο καζάνι πάλι.. Εφόσον οι συλλέκτες/βάση είναι οκ, ψάξιμο για άλλο καζάνι/μποιλερ.. Αυτά.. Όποιες συμβουλές ευπρόσδεκτες..
Έκανα μια γενική αξιολόγηση, ελπίζω να μη πειράζει..
Α, και κάτι ακόμα, βλέπω και κάτι άλλους πανάρχαιους ηλιακούς στη ταράτσα, χρόνια τώρα, που μάλλον έχουν αφεθεί στη μοίρα τους και δεν έχουν κάνει κιχ, για ότι μπορεί να σημαίνει αυτό..

Τελικά άλλαξα μόνο το καζάνι, οι πλάκες οκ..
Έβαλα κάτι οικονομικό, με μια πατέντα στη βάση μπήκε και δείχνει να παίζει οκ..
Αλλά είναι πραγματικά απίστευτο να δίνεις 3ψηφιο ποσό για αντικατάσταση καζανιού με περαστικά κλπ και για ανακύκλωση να μη το παίρνουν ούτε για 10-15€.. Το πήγαν για ανακύκλωση οι τεχνίτες.. Για να δούμε τώρα πόσο θα κρατήσει και αυτό.. Προσοχή μόνο όταν αλλάζετε καζάνι να αντικατασταθούν τυχόν πράγματα που μπορεί να χρειαστούν όπως αντιψυκτικό και τυχόν εξαρτήματα όπως βαλβίδες κλπ..
Και σέρβις καλό είναι κάθε 2 χρόνια λένε.. Και για να ισχύει η εγγύηση..
Το καζάνι που πήρα λέει 10 χρόνια εγγύηση, για να δούμε, σε σχέση με το παλιό της ελκο που έδινε 5.. Αλλά γενικά της ελκο ενώ φαινόταν πολύ πιο δεμένο και προσεγμένο κατασκευαστικά, τελικά αποδείχθηκε το αντίθετο..
Για να δούμε το πιο φθηνό τώρα..

Διαβάζοντας τις αξιολογήσεις και άλλων χρηστών μου δημιουργήθηκαν μερικά ερωτήματα και μερικά συμπεράσματα..
Όπως έχω αναφέρει, οι πλάκες φαίνεται ότι φτιάχνονται από άλλη εταιρεία.. Οι πλάκες είναι πολύ καλές..
Ακόμη και μετά από ~10 χρόνια..
Το θέμα που ήθελα να πω, διαβάζοντας και από άλλους χρήστες ότι το καζάνι φαίνεται να τρυπάει σε όλους μας στο ίδιο σημείο.. Δηλαδή εκεί που είναι η βαλβίδα πλήρωσης του αντιψυκτικου..
Αν όντως ισχύει αυτό θα μπορούσε κανείς να αναρωτηθεί περί κατασκευαστικού λάθους.. Αστοχία υλικού η όπως αλλιώς λέγεται..
Δεν δικαιολογείται αλλιώς αν σε όλους μας τρυπάει στο ίδιο σημείο..
In 7 years it runs from everywhere. Very unfortunate purchase, I do not recommend it. I have not serviced it, but three plumbers who saw it said that it is purely a product quality issue.

The solar collectors are very good. The boiler is a big failure. It leaks within 6 years, even for installation in the center of Athens, not in extreme conditions. What a shame!

We have installed the solar water heater in our vacation home and essentially use it for 1.5 months per year. After 6 years of use, the tank of the solar water heater developed a hole and started leaking water. The claims made by the company regarding "build quality," etc., are just empty words.

Αλλά η μόνωση του καζανιού εσωτερικά (βαμβακας κάτι, μου διαφεύγει τώρα) μάλλον δεν είναι ότι καλύτερο γιατί σε κρύες ημέρες δεν κράταγε πολύ το αποθηκευμένο ζεστό νερό.. Εδώ με χάλασε ψιλό αλλά το περίμενα ολίγον..
Σέρβις έκανα μόνος,. Σε αυτά τα χρόνια άλλαξα 2-3 φορές τα υγρά και καθάρισα το καζάνι από άλατα, άλλαξα ανοδιο κ αντίσταση.. Το θέμα είναι ότι από τα μισά χρόνια της ζωής του το καζάνι άρχισε να δείχνει σημάδια σκουριάς, χωρίς να τρέχει από κάπου όμως.. Και μου πέταγε συχνά νερά από τη βαλβίδα του κυκλώματος του αντιψυκτικου.. Τα εξαρτήματα που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν ήταν ορείχαλκος, εκτός από τη μια τάπα που είχε το καζάνι απο μαμά, στα υγρά του αντιψυκτικου που ήταν γαλβανιζε.. Οι σωλήνες μέχρι το σπίτι πλαστικό.. Τώρα μάλλον απ' ότι φαίνεται έχει τρυπήσει κ τρέχει το καζάνι στη πλευρά που είναι η βαλβίδα του αντιψυκτικου από πάνω.. Αν και τρέχει κ από αλλά σημεία.. Μάλλον επειδή λιμνάζει το νερό εσωτερικά.. Πάντως πραγματικά κρίμα που τρύπησε τόσο νωρίς.. Ούτε ~8 χρόνια.. Για να δούμε τι θα κάνουμε.. Αλλά γενικά νομίζω ότι είναι κάπως ακριβό το προϊόν (καζάνι) για αυτά που προσφέρει..
Να σημειώσω εδώ ότι και η μαμά βάση του που λέει ότι είναι γαλβανιζε νομίζω, έχει αρχίσει να δείχνει σημάδια σκουριάς γιατί κρατάει νερά στο πάνω μέρος της όταν βρέχει έξω.. Είναι σαν σκάφη κάπως ακριβώς κάτω από το καζάνι.. Μάλλον δεν θα πάρω το ίδιο καζάνι πάλι.. Εφόσον οι συλλέκτες/βάση είναι οκ, ψάξιμο για άλλο καζάνι/μποιλερ.. Αυτά.. Όποιες συμβουλές ευπρόσδεκτες..
Έκανα μια γενική αξιολόγηση, ελπίζω να μη πειράζει..
Α, και κάτι ακόμα, βλέπω και κάτι άλλους πανάρχαιους ηλιακούς στη ταράτσα, χρόνια τώρα, που μάλλον έχουν αφεθεί στη μοίρα τους και δεν έχουν κάνει κιχ, για ότι μπορεί να σημαίνει αυτό..

Τελικά άλλαξα μόνο το καζάνι, οι πλάκες οκ..
Έβαλα κάτι οικονομικό, με μια πατέντα στη βάση μπήκε και δείχνει να παίζει οκ..
Αλλά είναι πραγματικά απίστευτο να δίνεις 3ψηφιο ποσό για αντικατάσταση καζανιού με περαστικά κλπ και για ανακύκλωση να μη το παίρνουν ούτε για 10-15€.. Το πήγαν για ανακύκλωση οι τεχνίτες.. Για να δούμε τώρα πόσο θα κρατήσει και αυτό.. Προσοχή μόνο όταν αλλάζετε καζάνι να αντικατασταθούν τυχόν πράγματα που μπορεί να χρειαστούν όπως αντιψυκτικό και τυχόν εξαρτήματα όπως βαλβίδες κλπ..
Και σέρβις καλό είναι κάθε 2 χρόνια λένε.. Και για να ισχύει η εγγύηση..
Το καζάνι που πήρα λέει 10 χρόνια εγγύηση, για να δούμε, σε σχέση με το παλιό της ελκο που έδινε 5.. Αλλά γενικά της ελκο ενώ φαινόταν πολύ πιο δεμένο και προσεγμένο κατασκευαστικά, τελικά αποδείχθηκε το αντίθετο..
Για να δούμε το πιο φθηνό τώρα..

Διαβάζοντας τις αξιολογήσεις και άλλων χρηστών μου δημιουργήθηκαν μερικά ερωτήματα και μερικά συμπεράσματα..
Όπως έχω αναφέρει, οι πλάκες φαίνεται ότι φτιάχνονται από άλλη εταιρεία.. Οι πλάκες είναι πολύ καλές..
Ακόμη και μετά από ~10 χρόνια..
Το θέμα που ήθελα να πω, διαβάζοντας και από άλλους χρήστες ότι το καζάνι φαίνεται να τρυπάει σε όλους μας στο ίδιο σημείο.. Δηλαδή εκεί που είναι η βαλβίδα πλήρωσης του αντιψυκτικου..
Αν όντως ισχύει αυτό θα μπορούσε κανείς να αναρωτηθεί περί κατασκευαστικού λάθους.. Αστοχία υλικού η όπως αλλιώς λέγεται..
Δεν δικαιολογείται αλλιώς αν σε όλους μας τρυπάει στο ίδιο σημείο..
In 7 years it runs from everywhere. Very unfortunate purchase, I do not recommend it. I have not serviced it, but three plumbers who saw it said that it is purely a product quality issue.
Στα 7 χρόνια τρέχει από παντού.Ατυχεστατη αγορά δεν το συνιστώ.Δεν έχω κάνει σέρβις όμως τρεις υδραυλικοί που τον είδαν είπαν ότι είναι θέμα καθαρά ποιότητος του προϊόντος.
The solar collectors are very good. The boiler is a big failure. It leaks within 6 years, even for installation in the center of Athens, not in extreme conditions. What a shame!
Πάρα πολύ καλοί οι συλλέκτες του ηλιακού . Το Boiler είναι μεγάλη αποτυχία. Τρυπάει σε 6 χρόνια και μάλιστα για εγκατάσταση στο κέντρο της Αθήνας όχι σε ακραίες συνθήκες . Κριμα!
We have installed the solar water heater in our vacation home and essentially use it for 1.5 months per year. After 6 years of use, the tank of the solar water heater developed a hole and started leaking water. The claims made by the company regarding "build quality," etc., are just empty words.
Έχουμε βάλει τον ηλιακό στο εξοχικό και στην ουσία τον χρησιμοποιούμε 1.5 μήνα το χρόνο. Μετά από 6 χρόνια χρήσης τρύπησε το καζάνι του ηλιακού και άρχισε διαρροή νερού. Αυτά που γράφει η εταιρεία για "ποιότητα κατασκευής", κλπ, είναι απλά λόγια του αέρα...
I installed two of these solar heaters in two apartments at home. One of them leaked just before five years had passed and they didn't cover it under warranty because they said I hadn't done service from an authorized workshop, even though I had personally replaced the genuine anodes and gasket. The other one leaked after ten years. And all this in Athens. In the village, I installed an unknown brand 22 years ago and it hasn't had any problems.
Έβαλα δύο από αυτούς τους ηλιακούς σε δύο διαμερίσματα στο σπίτι. Ο ένας τρύπησε λίγο πριν κλείσει τα πέντε χρόνια και δεν τον κάλυψαν στην εγγύηση γιατί λέει δεν είχα κάνει σέρβις από εξουσιοδοτημένο συνεργείο, ενώ είχα αλλάξει εγώ προσωπικά γνήσια ανόδια και φλάντζα. Ο άλλος τρύπησε στα δέκα χρόνια. Και όλα αυτά στην Αθήνα. Στο χωριό έχω βάλει μια άγνωστη μάρκα εδώ και 22 χρόνια και δεν έχει πάθει τίποτα.

Τον έχω 7 χρόνια δηλαδή από το 2017 σήμερα που ανέβηκα πάνω είδα ότι σάπισε και τρέχει νερό πάνω από το μποιλερ άνοιξε μια τρύπα.Κριμα για τα χρήματα του μέσα σε 7 χρόνια να σαπίσει το καζάνι.
