The classic Daiquiri takes its name from the place where it was invented, the mining town of Daiquiri in the southeastern tip of Cuba. During the Spanish-American War, an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox created the drink to protect his workers from yellow fever.

To give it something extra, strawberry was added to the classic Daiquiri in the early 1990s. The variation is popular worldwide today. The fame of the Strawberry Daiquiri Cocktail began in America in the 1940s and since then it has been one of the most popular cocktails around.
