It was the first subwoofer I bought with the aim of serious music listening and it pleasantly surprised me. It doesn't just add more bass, but gives body, scale, and a sense of fullness to the system. With proper adjustment, it integrates so well with the main speakers that it essentially disappears acoustically and you simply feel that the whole setup plays more completely. The app is excellent and makes the setup much easier. It was one of the most transformative additions I've ever made to my sound system.

Excellent. Very easy to use, especially with the app from your mobile, where you can essentially customize everything. Top performance and control in both music and movies. It matches perfectly with my Klipsch. Its main advantage is that it immediately gives you the confidence that it will keep up no matter how much you push it with difficult tracks and high volumes. It never, ever loses control. Highly recommended.

A good subwoofer makes a big difference. In action scenes, it shakes the floor, excellent.

This is an SVS sub, a company known for its quality subwoofer builds.

Appearance: The sub is small and quite discreet. It can be placed in a living room or a room without someone saying, "What is this trunk?" Essentially, it is a cube. It comes with a grille, which makes it go unnoticed, but you can remove it and see its beauty. The finish has a wood look. In the photos, the grain appears much brighter. In practice, it is barely visible and tasteful. It weighs about 11 kg and is made of MDF. The grille fits tightly with no chance of causing resonances.

Sound: It is sealed. Personally, having gone through various subs, all ported, though lower priced, I noticed an immediate difference: I would call this one melodic. That is, it blends very beautifully and sweetly with the music, which is in line with the flat response it offers. The mild physical sense of pressure gives a feeling of warmth, like when you are by the fireplace and it warms you. If you want it for thumping club sounds, in a store, etc., you do not care about it being so harmoniously integrated and you get another, more powerful one. There, perhaps a ported one has the upper hand, since with fewer watts you will get the job done. As you can see in the graph, it responds down to about 23 Hz and then rolls off (I hear/feel it down to 27 Hz). The important thing is to test all the positions where you can place it. Personally, corners did not work for me because they emphasized 60 Hz too much and I had a null at 40. You can do calibration approximately even with that (with a tone generator and sweeps from REW or even on YouTube) if you do not want microphones.

As for movies/gaming: I have no complaints. It is definitely not a ported sub that "shouts," and by shouts I do not mean that as a negative, but as strong SPL in ultra deep bass (<20 Hz). It is nevertheless powerful. Compared with older subs, I would call it "cinematic." In a space of about 23 sq.m. I keep it very low (around -20 dB from reference level) and it still has a lot more to give if I want. Unfortunately, I cannot enjoy it in its full glory because of the apartment building. The important thing is to place it in a spot where you do not have nulls. In gaming, I have no complaints either. If your main use is movies/gaming, I would say go for the ported version - because the sealed one, although good, sometimes leaves you craving something more and more impactful.

For apartment dwellers: I did not want to make the neighbors suffer or receive complaints. I recommend it. Mainly because of the flat response and the sealed factor, it will be the safer choice. Also, you will need to use it in moderation, as low-frequency sounds pass through walls with no difficulty and can cause stress for neighbors. Those of you with wooden parquet floors will probably need isolation stands. When not to buy it in terms of noise pollution:

- If your apartment building does not have basic sound insulation.
- If you are not willing to listen near-field (e.g. PC users, or a sofa close to the speakers), meaning you want to be at the other end of your living room or walking around the house filling the space with loud music. I am not criticizing wanting loud music, but the sub can be heard two floors below and above you.
- If you want to listen to music loudly for many hours a day.
- If you want to listen to music but other people live in your house and you have not discussed it beforehand.

In movies it will rarely bother anyone, because what gets on nerves is the repeated beat for hours, not the occasional explosion in a film.

APP: It makes life easy. You sit where you want and adjust the device. This matters because sounds change depending on your position. So you can trim the peaks with its EQ and have a smooth sound. In my opinion it sounds nicer to the ears with the low frequencies boosted and, as frequencies rise, the dB level reduced. In other words, a downward-sloping curve. This also has to do with the auditory perception of sound. Also, thanks to profiles, you can have different settings for different seating positions. For example, I have one set of settings for when I am at the desk and another for the sofa. Also another for nighttime so it does not become annoying - just discreetly present. In the photo, as you can see, it has a relatively flat response with a peak at 30 Hz and 60 Hz. With the app you go in, open the Equalizer, and set, for example, -10 dB at 30 Hz and 60 Hz and you are set.

EDIT mature review after some time with it:

I continue to remain satisfied. I continue to enjoy it completely, and every time the sound supports low frequencies I am happy like a kid. It works flawlessly as on the first day I got it. Reading my review, I would again urge caution for those living in apartment buildings. It is incredible how low Hz pass through walls. Nevertheless, I have not received any complaints from the neighbors in the building, and when I asked, they do not hear anything (classic 1970s apartment building), following what I wrote above. Your listening position may have a null at 30 Hz (meaning you hear nothing), but in the next room there may be chaos at 30 Hz. In such a case you change the position of the sub or your own position (crawling around until you find where it should go); if you have $$$, you get a second sub so you have a more balanced sound at the cost of the personal time needed to tune them. With one sub it is difficult not to have nulls and you have to compromise if you are not enthusiasts.

Finally, if your room is large, or you have a large living room or high ceiling, check the cubic meters it supports so you do not get disappointed. Mine is about 20 sq.m. with a high ceiling and I run it at low dB (about -20 dB), and near field (I am very close to the speakers/sub so I do not need to turn them up).

EDIT 2-

Direct comparison with the PB1000 in the same spot. Aesthetically, the PB1000 is unattractive and in a small space it dominates it in an unpleasant way.

It is clearly larger than the SB in all dimensions (a mini piece of furniture). Without the grille, it looks a bit tacky with the two front "pipes," and in my opinion it does not fit in a "serious" living room. As for the sound, above 30 Hz, if you were blindfolded you would not notice a difference (after all, they use the same driver). Where it changes is below 30 Hz, where the PB is clearly stronger, down to 17 Hz (below 20 you do not hear it, the whole room just vibrates and creates a psychological unease - ideal for movies with LFE), something that of course will be an unpleasant experience for your neighbors and I do not recommend it in apartment buildings - unless you want to keep it low, which defeats the purpose of someone going for the PB. Another small difference is that, in my opinion, the SB1000 Pro is slightly more localizable than the PB, probably due to its small size, and less "expansive" in sound - but not huge differences, the sound signature is exactly the same (deep, dark bass).

As for music: winner is the SB1000. The difference is obvious to my ears. No matter how much I tried, the PB did not stop being less melodic, falling short. It is hard to explain in writing; there is a little video on YouTube comparing PB/SB for music (I think the 3000s), and even there you perceive the difference. To put it simply, the SB1000 can "move" me emotionally, the PB cannot. A lot has been written about this on the internet, but I have not found a definitive answer. If I had not heard the SB, I would have liked the PB a lot for music too; it is just that the SB is S tier and the PB is A tier. The box comes with port plugs so you can convert it to sealed. I did not try it.

In movies, on the other hand, the difference is obvious in the "seismic vibrations." Or more simply, at 23 Hz the PB shakes everything, the SB is nonexistent (maybe it can do something if you have a small room, e.g. 2.5x4 with a wooden floor). For someone who has the space and is not bothered by the large size, wants to watch action movies, cares less about music, and has no neighbors, the PB is an excellent choice.

Since I see that my review ultimately helped quite a few people, I am coming back 2+ years later and adding that the sub works as on the first day, has shown no fault, and the app and Bluetooth also work flawlessly. Reading what I wrote above, I would not say my opinion has changed significantly. The subwoofer remains unbeatable in the field of music. It makes music touch you. In movies it is decent. For apartment buildings it is borderline - and it requires great care, low volumes, and not boosting the nulls. For those wondering whether to get one sub or go straight to a soundbar, for movies even a ported 8" from a decent soundbar will do the job in a small to medium room. For music, you can also enjoy good speakers or headphones that, if possible, reach 55-60 Hz at least at -3 dB.
