Duino is a castle in the heart of Adriatic, not far from Trieste. In the summer, it is enveloped by the fog of the north, while in the winter it sparkles on the edge of the sea, which brings its brightness up to that point from the south. Towards the side where the winds blow, it has its warlike ramparts, while its towers roam awake the horizons, where the wind blows. Founded in a central place, it embraces the romantic and does not reject the classical way, while it blends the alpine volcanic rock and the liquid element of Poseidon. And it always lingers between the West, which ages in the statues of the spirits, and between the East, which blooms in the bodies of the children. There, everything calmly harmonizes in the dance of the natural landscape and in the orchestra of the tragic theater.
Duino is a chosen place, which binds all the contradictions of the world and of man in a ring.
