Description

Description

Zaha Hadid (1950 - 2016) was a revolutionary architect. For years, she was widely recognized and won numerous awards, despite having constructed few projects. Some even argued that her work was simply impossible to build. However, in the later years of her life, her bold visionary ideas became reality, bringing a new and unique architectural language to cities and structures such as the Port House in Antwerp, the Al Janoub Stadium near Qatar, and the stunning new airport terminal in Beijing. With her untimely passing in 2016, Hadid had firmly established herself among the top in the field, working on projects in Europe, China, the Middle East, and the United States. She was the first female architect to win both the Pritzker Prize and the prestigious RIBA Royal Gold Medal, with her long-time collaborator Patrik Schumacher now leading Zaha Hadid Architects and overseeing many new projects. Based on the massive TASCHEN monograph, this book is now available in an extensively updated and accessible edition that covers Hadid's complete works, including projects in progress. With abundant photographs, in-depth sketches, and her own designs, the volume tracks the evolution of her career, covering not only her most innovative buildings but also the furniture and interior designs that were incorporated into her unique and distinctly 21st-century universe.
