Description

The popular NexStar series

Designed as affordable automated GoTo telescopes for entry to mid-level users, the NexStar SLT (Star Locating Telescopes), refractors and reflectors, are available in the most popular sizes and equipped with interesting design features. With a pre-assembled, adjustable stainless steel tripod and quick-release fork arms and tubes, the NexStar SLT telescopes can be set up in minutes – without any tools! You can see details on the surface of the Moon, Venus and its phases, Mars as an orange disk, Jupiter and its four major moons, Saturn and its rings clearly, and much more! Most NexStar SLT (mainly the refractors) can also be used as spotting scopes for observing terrestrial subjects.

Technical Specifications

  • Optical Design: Maksutov-Cassegrain
  • Diameter: 127mm
  • Focal Length: 1500mm
  • Focal Ratio: f/11.8
  • Mount: Altazimuth Robotic GoTo
  • Finder Scope: Red Dot (Star Pointer)
  • Maximum Useful Magnification: 254x
  • Eyepieces: 9mm (167x) & 25mm (60x)

Smart design

  • Powered by 8 AA batteries (not included) or an optional 12V power supply adapter, these NexStar GoTo telescopes are perfect for traveling. With the ergonomically designed NexStar controller, users are free to remove the controller from its case to use it from a distance or leave it in place to have their hands free. With the touch of a button, you can select from a catalog of 4,000 or more objects, change the rotation speed, view interesting information about an object, or simply find out if a specific object is visible in the sky.

Alignment with SkyAlign technology

  • With the SkyAlign alignment method, using the robotic telescope is faster and easier. Simply point the telescope towards three bright objects in the sky and the telescope will tell you what those objects are. You don't need to know the names of the stars - in fact, you can even choose planets or the Moon! SkyAlign is the easiest method to align a robotic telescope. It is most suitable for beginners, while providing the comfort and precision that advanced users require.

Automation

  • The database allows the telescope to locate over 4,000 celestial objects
  • Ability to upgrade (flash) the controller software and motors via internet updates
  • Auxiliary port for additional accessories, such as the GPS accessory
  • Compatibility with the optional NexRemote telescope control software for advanced control of your telescope via computer
  • The NexStar Observers List & "The Sky" CD-ROMs, with astronomical software that provides educational information about the sky as well as printable maps
