One of the highest quality and purest salts is considered to be Himalayan salt, which is recommended by Ayurvedic Medicine for its biochemical and bioenergetic properties.

This salt mainly comes from the Salt Range in northern Pakistan, where the Indus mountain range can be considered as the foothills of the Himalayas.

Important in the selection of salt is:

• that it has not been processed with non-traditional methods
• that it meets the Codex Alimentarius standards

To fully maintain its properties, it must be hand-worked and only with traditional mechanical methods, washed in brine, and sun-dried.
