For the ideal result, the correct ratio of coffee to water plays an important role. Water makes up 99% of the coffee's content, so the amount of coffee needs to be carefully measured, as this is what will make the difference in whether the coffee ends up being light or strong.
Roughly speaking, for every liter of water, about 50-65g of coffee is needed. On a smaller scale, this means around 6g of coffee per 100ml of water or 2 heaping tablespoons for each cup with a capacity of around 300ml of water.
Since the majority of the beverage is water, you should not overlook the importance of the water you use, as its quality can greatly alter the taste of your coffee.
If the area where you live has hard water, it is better to avoid using it and instead use bottled or alternatively filtered tap water, which is free from chlorine and other chemicals. The benefit will be twofold, both for the coffee, which will be more flavorful, and for the long-term good functioning of your coffee maker.
