    I bought it for my cat who is 1.5 years old, so that his whiskers wouldn’t hit the sides of the bowl. It is indeed very large and open at the edges and holds a lot of food, although I only put a small amount compared to the bowl’s capacity. It is sturdy and heavy, good quality ceramic.
