For the first 4 weeks after a baby's birth, it is not necessary to trim their nails as they are very soft and it is not easy to distinguish where the nail ends and begins. You should always cut them short and rounded, and frequently enough so that the baby does not injure themselves during the day or while sleeping.

Toenails, like those of adults, do not grow as quickly as fingernails. However, you should cut them as straight as possible to prevent them from growing inward.

Tip: Always have someone else assist you. One person can hold the child's hand while the other carefully trims their nails. This way, the one holding the hand can distract them with a song or a game to make the manicure process easier. In any case, if the child is fussy, leave it for later when they feel better.
