Corto Maltese visited Switzerland several times. That year, he reunited with his old friend, Professor Steiner from Prague, who needed to go to a small town in the Valais canton: Sion. To accompany him, Corto embarked on a long journey, starting from Lausanne to pick him up from the border with Italy, in Lugano, and from there to take him to Sion.
During the journey, they would stop at the home of the writer Hermann Hesse in Montagnola, in the canton of Ticino. There was a guesthouse in that area: The Morpheus "Beautiful Sleep Guaranteed" which was a family business. The owners were named Uanaz and Vanaz and were friends with Corto.
They had a daughter, the fifteen-year-old Erika. Corto brought her as a gift a beautiful dress in a pink color from Thuringia, which is a poetic color.
