The synthetic absorbable surgical suture NEOSORB-PGLA RAPID (RPGLA) is indicated for the approximation of soft tissues, oral mucosa, plastic surgery, and generally where only short-term support is required.

Its use is not indicated for the tissues of the central cardiovascular, central nervous, and ophthalmic systems.

After implantation, the synthetic absorbable surgical suture RAPID PGLA (RPGLA) initially causes a mild inflammatory tissue reaction, followed by the gradual formation of a fibrous tissue capsule.

The RAPID PGLA (RPGLA) suture is degraded by hydrolysis processes, where the copolymer breaks down into glycolic and lactic acid, with a gradual reduction in its strength, and is eventually absorbed by the tissues.

The RAPID PGLA (RPGLA) suture retains 50% of its tensile strength after 5 days. All of the suture's initial strength is lost within 10-14 days after implantation. The absorption of the suture is completed within 42 days.
