Environmental education belongs by definition to the broader field of education sciences, as it is primarily education and upbringing aimed at creating environmentally responsible citizens who will contribute to achieving sustainability.
Environmental education promotes an innovative and reformist type of education characterized by interdisciplinarity, systemicity, creativity, student-centeredness, participation, cooperation, a critical approach, local knowledge, value orientation, and participation in democratic processes-environmental actions.
Based on the above, the purpose of the book is on one hand to demonstrate the pedagogical framework of environmental education, so that it can serve as an additional contribution to the constructive dialogue that is developing around the environment and sustainability, and on the other hand to contribute to familiarizing all stakeholders with the methods-techniques that can effectively help in achieving its goals.
