Plastic tracheostomy tube with an inner tube and cuff in a sterile package. Its external plate moves in four directions to prevent tracheal injury. It has an external 15mm connector. The package includes two inner tubes and a support ribbon.

The Twist 301 tracheostomy tube is made of soft, medical-grade polymer plastic (polyurethane), with thin walls. It is radiopaque and sterilized. A support ribbon made of special material and a patient record leaflet are included.

A tracheostomy is performed to ensure patient ventilation by bypassing the upper respiratory tract. The reasons required vary, and the procedure can be done urgently or scheduled in surgery. The tracheostomy may be temporary or permanent.

Indications for tracheostomy:

  • In obstruction of the upper respiratory tract (e.g., laryngeal edema) to ensure airway patency when transoral intubation is impossible.
  • Severe laryngeal injuries.
  • Radical operations on the thyroid or pharynx and upper esophagus.
  • Patients requiring prolonged respiratory support.
  • Difficulty disconnecting from a ventilator.
  • Neurological syndromes with inability to swallow.
