The intellectual encounter of Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957) with the work of the German philosopher and poet Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) took place in Paris in 1907. There, the 24-year-old Cretan, an outstanding graduate of the Law School of the University of Athens, wrote the first draft of his dissertation. He returned to Paris in 1909, where he completed his dissertation, and in April of the same year, he published it as a 93-page book.

From Dr. Stavros's research at the Historical Archive of the University of Athens for information regarding the dissertation and its fate, nothing else related was found.
