Can there be viable socialist societies? Do they contradict the selfish human nature? This book analyzes the process of the emergence of property as a denial of the archaic community, the contradictions of class societies, and specifically capitalism, as well as the role of human nature in historical development.
The character of human nature is investigated, primarily based on data from neurology and psychology. The conclusion is that humans are genetically social beings, that there is no unchanging selfish human nature, and consequently, there is no anthropological barrier to socialism.
Finally, the difficulties of transitioning to socialism are outlined, and the possibility of a finite communism is established. According to Marxism, history is an open field of possibilities, and, according to Marx and Engels, a condition for the survival of humanity is the return to the archaic community, at a higher, scientific and technological level.
