Bartók taught piano at the Academy of Music in Budapest from 1907 to 1934. In his early years as a professor, Budapest music publishers Rozsnyai and Rózsavölgyi offered him to prepare the so-called instructive editions (including suggestions, comments, and fingerings for the performer) of several classical pieces from the piano repertoire, totaling more than two thousand pages of music.
