The largest amounts of heat in nature (such as solar heat) are transferred by radiation. Common foam insulation products, being non-conductive, stop the transfer of heat by conduction but fail to stop the transfer by radiation.
The Reflectix, consisting of 2 layers of high-purity aluminum that maintain a sufficient distance between them, reflects 97% of the radiation, achieving the highest thermal insulation results.

Essentially, it is an aluminum foil with bubble wrap on the back, difficult to install if the unit is not removed, and the double-sided tape that comes with it is practically impossible to hold it in place. For me, all the pieces came off and I just wedged them onto the unit.
