When the side rail section is no longer needed, a bed rail/sofa front can be added to transform the bed into an open bed with side rails or a cozy little sofa. The bed rail/sofa front unit is sold separately. The baby bed positioned in the open side position should not be used as a side bed next to the parent's bed.
