It worked out just fine for me. 9 months of use. Good write speed, as for read I don't know, I use it for transferring images and I consider it very reliable for back-ups.

The WORST disk ever. It gets on your nerves until it transfers files, especially if there are many together. Tragic. The worst disk I have ever had. And I have quite a few!

I like its simplicity in everything, small, convenient, silent, sturdy construction, and it is NOT made in China! From personal experience with heavy use outdoors both for work and as a hobby, I switched to Toshiba. In the 90s and after, I was a devoted WD fan. Then I switched to Seagate. When I saw that even Seagate had dropped a bit in durability and reliability compared to the older ones I had, I started looking into it! I did research on Reddit and wherever there were reviews, like Skroutz, Amazon, etc., and I decided my next one would be this Toshiba. So far, everything is perfect, zero complaints, except for the relatively short cable that they all have.

By far one of the fastest HDD drives for storage and by far more reliable and faster than the well-known WD of the same category.

I have bought one of 1TB and one of 2TB. They have been working in a NAS for a long time (over a year) non-stop. I haven't had a single bad sector appear. I highly recommend them.

Avoid it.
Slow, as other users have mentioned, but the most important thing is that there is something wrong with its power supply.
It works fine on my laptop. On the desktop computer, it randomly disconnects every 1-2 minutes. (And no, it's not the computer's fault—I have other Toshiba drives of a different series and I have no issues with them.)

I got 2 Disks, 2Tb each, purely for backup of various types of files! Photos and videos with any of our documents! I have started the storage, everything is good, I will come back later! Happy New Year with health for all of us!

I have bought three such hard drives and all three crashed in less than a year and the files would not open. I had to do data recovery (pay a technician or buy a recovery program). I lost all my files.

I don't remember how many years ago I got it. Anyway, it still works perfectly fine with light use, but okay. Slow, but good.

Having 2 such hard drives in my possession for 5 years now and reading several reviews, I have some comments to make.
First of all, they are HDDs so of course they are slow.
2) If someone wants crazy performance or weird support etc., they should look for something else. These particular drives are A N C I E N T but they are still being manufactured because they are reliable.
If an issue arises, you always have a warranty.
Having had the drives for 5 years, I have 0 complaints.
I download whatever games I want and run them normally, I just have slow loading screens

The worst thing ever, I wasted my money and got the 2 TB. For a week now I've been trying to transfer videos from my phone and it's practically impossible. It's so slow that it takes 3 hours to transfer 30 GB of files and then it crashes and the transfer stops. Simply tragic

It's fine for now. OK, the data exchange isn't lightning fast but it's within very reasonable limits. Very decent for its price.

Fast file transfer, large capacity, quiet and quite a quality hard drive, this is the 2nd time I am buying it for file storage

The disk was purchased today to replace an identical 2TB model from 2016, which operates daily as a backup with a folder synchronization application.

After 8.5 years, the new disk is - silent, thinner, cheaper, and faster. Personally, I made the purchase to gain speed and nothing else. The transfer of data (1.6TB) to the old disk after formatting takes about 330 minutes, while to the new one it takes 266 minutes. So I have a 24% faster NEW disk on average. In cases where I have individual files of several GB, I get even better speeds, up to 80%.

External hard drives have zero reliability for important files. It's the same with other companies. This particular one froze and I threw it away. Now I store files on One Drive. Store important files only in the cloud, not on USB/external hard drives. I've been burned many times with these.

Very fast and reliable. The computer recognizes it immediately. It is a compact and silent device.

It is one of the best machines available on the market and it is really worth it for someone who does very demanding work with data. I use it in my job, which puts this particular product through 6 to 10 hours of continuous operation, and I have to say it is truly worth its money. It is compatible with all computers, whether Mac or Windows, and it has a fast response without much delay, even though it is literally an analog hard drive. It is more than worth it!!

Very good disk, I've had it for a year now and it hasn't given me any problems. Since I don't have much space on my laptop, I use it to run games and programs, and it runs them perfectly.

I use it for Capture One on Mac and it is a bit faster than similar WD and Lacie drives I have both in editing and in storing and reading photos. The Preview of the photos opens quite quickly as if it were an SSD. The only thing I noticed is that sometimes it takes a while to load the photos in the folders. 2 years of warranty is just enough, after that it will go into the drawer.

Very good price. It's not the fastest, but the speed is sufficient for emulators (portable install) and 4k video playback

STAY AWAY FROM Toshiba. 3 hard drives that fail. and this one brand new constantly drops the connection. stay away if you have files you need

It's not the fastest, and it couldn't be with the price it has. I filled it with multimedia files, and the transfer speeds ranged from 30 to 80; of course, the emptier it is, the faster it copies. Relatively quiet for an external HDD.

It's the most affordable on the market, and for that alone, I consider it a decent option for storage and file transfer.

I've had it for a week, and I can't judge its durability over time.

perfect is the best word I can think of to describe it but a warning when I took it out and saw the whole of the wire that goes in to it I thought it was broken cuz I was like that wire whole that connects to it is weirdly shaped and I thought that it was defective/broken and then I saw the wire and I was like oh no it's supposed to look like that almost had a heart attack of that so like be warned about that

I bought it in November 2024, it was used less than 10 times, and after 1 month I connected it to the computer, it didn't show how many GB it has, it disconnected from disk management on its own, it can't be formatted, and now it gives me a circular redundancy error, and whenever I connect it, the computer freezes (tested on 5 computers)

Used on 3 TOSHIBA Laptops from 2006, 2007, and 2012, all 3 with Windows 7, and it worked perfectly, although it mentioned in the specifications that it is compatible with Windows 11, 10, and 8.1.

In the first 15 days of use, it broke down.... I tried to recover the few files I had saved, but I couldn't. I tried to format it, nothing.... The only comforting thing is that it is under warranty....

The only truly reliable external hard drive. I have about 10 (2018 and 2022), I have literally torn them apart and I have not encountered any problems with any of them. I started buying Toshiba drives, disappointed by the performance and durability of others, which many consider top-notch (I wonder why), such as WD...

Although I haven't had it for about a month, I bought it to connect it to an Xbox Series S and transfer some games that are NOT optimized for X/S... Transferred 100 gigabytes in 35 minutes at a speed of 500-600mbps.. Honest for the price, its lifespan will show.
