Unamuno clarifies that he does not desire "any method other than that of passion," rejects the scientific correctness of his time, is metaphysical, mystical, medieval. Yet, he is realistic and incisive when he denounces the "fruitless hybridism" that corrupts without enriching the national identity of a country.
