The primary mirror has a parabolic surface, which eliminates the spherical aberration error that spherical mirrors suffer from. The secondary mirror is supported by a cross-shaped arrangement of metal sheets, which are only 0.5mm thick, minimizing the diffraction phenomenon and light loss.
